Donation Opportunities

  Dear Friends,

The miracles of the Six-Day War and the liberation of the Old City of Yerushalayim inspired the founding of Yeshiva Hakotel. Facing the Kotel and in sight of the site of the Bet Hamikdash, Yeshiva Hakotel has for over 40 years been sharing a love of Judaism and an appreciation of the miracle of modern Israel with thousands of Israeli and overseas students. One of

Israel's leading Hesder Yeshivot, Hakotel combines Torah studies with army service, and has inspired soldiers whose dedication influences the seriousness and efforts exerted in the study hall.

Never has the responsibility to support the Torah institutions of Yerushalayim, and particularly those in the OldCity, been more pressing than today. As several countries, including the US, attempt to undermine the legitimacy of our full control of Yerushalayim, it is incumbent upon us to support a Yeshiva that is a cornerstone of the OldCity community. Today, thankfully, Yeshivat Hakotel numbers over 300 hesder student/soldiers, who have been joined by over 100 students from the US, Canada, England, and South America.

Unfortunately, in today's economy, many of our students cannot afford the tuition.  As it is the policy of Hakotel not to turn away suitable students for financial reasons, the Yeshiva must make up a yearly shortfall of hundreds of thousands of US dollars. We have therefore founded the "Bonei Hakotel Society", the purpose of which is to build up our Hesder Scholarship Fund to enable these young men to learn in the Yeshiva.

For a donation of $1,800, you can become a member of the "Bonei Hakotel Society" and your name will appear on the Society's plaque which is to be placed in the Wohl Bet Midrash at the Yeshiva.

We have also created the "Rabbi Akiva Circle" (for a donation of $5,000), and the "Rabbi Akiva Gold Circle" ($10,000) in commemoration of the Rabbi whose vision of a rebuilt Yerushalayim continues to be an inspiration to us all. In addition to subscribers' names appearing prominently on the plaque, "Rabbi Akiva Circle" members will be invited to an Annual Dinner at the Yeshiva. (Pledges can be remitted in two payments during 5771)

We will of course welcome donations of any amount to our Hesder Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made out to: The Central Fund for Israel, c/o Yeshivat Hakotel, 46 Rector Court, Bergenfield, NJ07621

1)  Furniture for English Judaica Library

We recently renovated the English Judaica library in memory of Rabbi Yaacov Rubinstein z"l, founding rabbi at the Young Israel of Scarsdale who was tragically killed.
New doors, ceilings, and air-conditioning have been completed, but we still need new furniture including tables, chairs, and computers.

A placque will be put in the library.

Cost of Project:   $15,000

2) Mattresses for the Dormitories

Three hundred students, both Israeli student/soldiers and students from our Overseas Program, sleep in our dormitories at any one time.
We need new mattresses to ensure that our students get the rest they need to put in long days of Torah study.

A placque will be put up in one of the dormitories.

Cost of Project: $60,000

We will be delighted to welcome you at the Yeshiva during your next visit to Israel.

Sincerely,

Don Kates,
